BBC Radio 4
have confirmed that Bitton will be broadcast on Bells On Sunday on 27th June
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000xdgz
“Bells on Sunday comes from the church of St Mary’s, Bitton in
Gloucestershire. In 1821 the Vicar, the Reverend Henry Ellacombe, devised and
installed a novel apparatus enabling the six bells of St Mary’s to be chimed by
a single ringer that can still be seen today in the church porch. In 1936 the
old bells were retuned and augmented by Taylors of Loughborough to become a ring
of eight bells with a tenor weighing fourteen and a quarter hundredweight and
tuned to E. We hear them ringing Call Changes on eight bells.”
The recording will be available afterwards on BBC Sounds to
listen again.
